Tom, Just wanted to say I enjoyed Serpentine -- and the homages to other authors (at least a couple of them) did not go unnoticed. Saul Enderby is obviously a nod to Le Carre and the description of the hotel in Mull, fittingly, has two references to Alan Warner books. How many others did I miss? And did I get enough to claim a Serpentine chequebook and pen? Andrew
